National President of the party Lalan Singh has resigned from the post in the National Executive meeting of JDU in Delhi. He said that I have taken this decision in view of the activism in the Lok Sabha elections. After Lalan’s resignation, Nitish Kumar is now certain to become the new president of Janata Dal United (JDU). Its formal announcement will be made at 5 pm. This will be the second time when the command of the party will be in the hands of Nitish Kumar. But this resignation of Lalan Singh has not happened suddenly. Its script was being written in Bihar several months ago. Due to these two incidents, a tussle started between Lalan Singh and Nitish Kumar.
A party official present at the meeting held in the Constitution Club of Delhi, on the request of anonymity, told Amar Ujala that four months ago on September 13, Nitish Kumar had held a marathon meeting with the block presidents and district presidents of the party. National President of the party Lalan Singh was missing from this meeting. When the discussion intensified, a statement was issued by the party that he was ill. However, a day before the meeting he had addressed a large gathering in Rajgir.
